Member Spotlight: Purple Aardvark

Meet the women behind Purple Aardvark!

We connected with owners Carolyn Cherry and Sandy Casey to learn more about who they are, their business and what the community means to them.  Here is what we learned…

A brief bio….

Carolyn Cherry & Sandy Casey have known each other for many, many years. Seven years ago, they decided to combine their talents and open a retail store in downtown Chatham. Sandy is a lifelong Chatham resident, her parents and grandparents lived here as well. Carolyn lived in Chatham until second grade. When she got married, she and her husband decided to move to Chatham and raise their family there. They loved every minute of the 29 years they lived here. In 2021, they moved to Morris Twp.

What do you want the community to know about your business and product offerings?

We sell only items that are Made in America. A lot of our products are hand crafted by local artisans. Many of our items are one of a kind. We work with our crafters and our customers to get the perfect gift item for all on your list. We repair jewelry and replace watch batteries.

Why did you start your business? What do you love about being a local business owner?

We saw the need for a gift store in Chatham. Sandy is a jeweler and Carolyn was familiar with the business side of running a store.

It is definitely the people. Our community of customers and other business owners makes it a delight to come to work each day.
